I am currently posting a new animal every week!
Hi, I’m Mari! I love animals, and I love learning about animals. When I was little, I would spend hours watching nature documentaries on Animal Planet or reading animal articles in my dad’s National Geographic collection. All of this self-imposed research led me to study wildlife ecology in college, and though my career path has led me into a different field, animals and the environment remain a life-long passion.
With this blog, I hope to share a little bit of the wild world with anyone who might be interested in learning. I find that, when seeking information on a rare or interesting species, it is all too easy to focus on the negative, and become depressed. Although most of the animals I feature are endangered, and some critically so, I prefer not to focus on that here, instead offering a place to appreciate and learn about what we still have, rather than worrying about what we might be losing. Environmental guilt often leads people to distance themselves from nature and animals, which is the exact opposite of what I hope to accomplish here.
I hope you find my blog and the animals within interesting and informative. If you ever have any concerns, questions, or just want to say hi, I’m easy to reach at the following address:
